David A. Wilson is a Social Entrepreneur, and Founder and Managing Director of Heritage Futures International. During the past thirty five year’s he has worked at senior diplomatic levels alongside communities in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, Somalia, Kenya, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates and India facilitating and promoting the catalytic role that culture, heritage and the arts can play in job creation, fair growth, community transformation and sustainable development. Fifteen of these years were with the New Zealand Government as a national negotiator coordinating the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Crown partnership funding and programs within this field.

 

Key project areas have focused on Youth Training and Employment, Job Creation, Worker Co-operatives, Tribal and Community Capacity Building, Leadership Development, Building Alliances and Networks, Faith-based Initiatives, Heritage Asset Based Community Development (ABCD), The Global Economy and the Future of Work, Business Expansion and Retention (BEAR), Community Owned  Social Enterprises, Traditional Customs and Trades Revival, Living History Interpretation, Heritage Trails, Cultural Tourism, Historic Town and Central Business District Revitalizations (MAINSTREET), and Regional Economic Development.

Born and educated in New Zealand with Scottish ancestry dating back to early 1700, David operates with the unwavering belief that creativity will forever be the spark that ignites communities and brings individuals, culture and politics together. He is a pragmatic visionary who operates with zeal and courage, rejects stale, lazy, and traditional thinking, understands how to handle conflict and deal with rapidly changing situations, and has a persistent determination that allows him to break away from constraints imposed by ideology or conventional practices. He enjoys new invention and a different approach, and has a healthy impatience where he cannot sit back and wait for change to happen, but enjoys being a change driver.
