OUR SPECIALTY AREAS
We specialise in two key areas;

1. Authentic heritage project design, fund-raising, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

2. Facilitating transparent, community-based, participatory consultation processes.

These processes bring diverse groups, non-government organizations, Indigenous peoples, business, the tourism industry, private investors, municipal, provincial and federal governments, villages, towns and regions together and promote ‘bottom-up’ rather than ‘top-down’ critical dialogue and actions that build consensus and meet the needs of a particular community.

OUR APPROACH
We work internationally across regional, ethnic, religious, tribal, racial and geographical boundaries with all communities and residents regardless of their race, ethnicity, age, gender, social circumstances, sexual orientation, politics, or religion.

We utilise the dynamic power and processes of the global philosophies and practices of Asset Based Community Driven (ABCD) Development to inspire and engage residents to identify, connect and utilise their local heritage assets to shape, strengthen and build their communities while practicing ongoing dialogue, building leadership, embracing diversity, and creating a sense of community.

We view thorough planning as essential for success. For each project, we carefully conduct in-depth research to establish the history and present position of a community and its possibilities. Then in partnership with the local community and leading experts in heritage conservation work, map out its heritage assets and prepare a plan outlining the objectives and the key steps necessary for the sustainable preservation, management, and maximising of economic and tourism opportunities.

We believe the more communities know, the better prepared they are to realise the potential of their heritage in a way that is both culturally sensitive and economically sustainable. This is how Heritage Futures International’s projects empower people to become responsible stewards of their own heritage, and to transform their past into a vibrant part of their living present.

We combine the diverse skills, expertise, and track record of dynamic social entrepreneurs, heritage experts, project managers and an extensive global network of specialist consultants and advisors to work alongside local client communities and volunteers to achieve significant projects while driving a broader agenda for change, growth and transformation.

Where appropriate, local organisations are established for individual projects to oversee and advance long-term heritage asset protection, funding needs, business development and training needs for local communities. Structures we help establish to achieve this include; Independent Expert Advisory Groups, Task Forces, Networks, Working Parties, Steering Committees, Project Teams, Boards of Directors, Community Companies, Trust’s, Societies, Social Enterprises, Philanthropic Foundations, and Development Groups.
